Impact of the internet on our Lives

The Internet has altered the way we live and spend time and we know that the impact of the internet on our lives are very huge. It has taken over the conventional setup and integrated it with modern life. There is literally no such thing that cannot be found on the internet. From online shopping to shifting your entire business online, from hangouts to virtual meetings you find it all on the internet now.

It has really impacted our lives. Where it overcame geographical distances, it also took the ones apparently close, far from us. In this blog, I will focus on a few aspects specifically where the internet made a huge impact.

Internet and communication: The old medium of distant communications was writing letters which would take weeks to be delivered or making calls which frankly speaking were not cheap. Internet shortened the time span and made communications faster. Be it official or personal.

Internet and libraries: Libraries have been personal heaven to a lot of people. Libraries have soothed broken hearts, nourished young minds, and catered to the loneliness of old age. Libraries have been aiding education since forever but with the internet, things changed drastically. Libraries moved online and turned up to be far more easily accessible. Ps. don’t forget all the free pdfs you get to view.

Internet and relationships: Relationships changed dramatically with the aid of the internet. It made long-distance relationships survive, strengthened the bond of the child who’s living away from its parents and stringed best friends together. But it also gave way to misunderstandings and unnecessary doubts which resulted in ending a lot of relationships.

Internet and music: Music is part of us. It is there for us in happiness and sorrows. It helps us chase away our boredom or heartbreak. Music helps release inner stress. With the adaptations of the internet, music has become far more accessible. Every song is just a few clicks away.

Internet and privacy: The Internet has seriously challenged privacy issues. It keeps a track of our current location and whereabouts along with past location history. People have been reportedly been a victim to internet harassment and been targeted because of access to current locations. It was surprising to see that some people did not even know about it.

Internet and cyber-bullying: Those who want to harass only need an opportunity to do so. The Internet has reportedly presented cases (especially involving minors) where excessive trust in stranger lead to serious assault and blackmailing.

Internet and culture: Exposure to different cultures and the world a far via the internet has transformed quite a lot of cultures. It has spread awareness of present-day marches and social issues that were adopted all over the world. Women’s rights have been long advocated on the internet to help change conventional mindsets and challenge patriarchy virtually before introducing it in the real world.

Internet and economy: Internet has provided various employment opportunities to people who had commute issues and to businessmen who wished to expand into foreign markets but couldn’t do so because of a lack of resources.

In my best opinion, where the internet has overcome a lot of shortcomings it also gave birth to modern problems.
